Heaven and Hell

I used to be so convinced about the way God’s justice worked and how heaven and hell would work. Now, I just don’t know. I believe in the Justice of God, and His Mercy, but the sacrifice He made for Christ should open the way for not only the faithful believer, but for the non-believer as well, as we are all sinners in God’s eyes. I just don’t know what to think anymore.

What are your thoughts?

The glory of Christianity is to conquer by forgiveness.

Since high school, I have been unable to escape how absurdly profound Blake’s work is.

I'm listening to a debate on oneness vs. trinitarian thought.

Many Christians care about politics much more than Jesus ever did. If changing laws will change the world, who needs Jesus?

What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?

desertmanian asked: Hi, I saw your question about the Trinity but I didn't respond because the response wouldn't allow me enough characters. I am a Trinitarian but I have family that are oneness pentecostals. I've researched this topic quite a bit as a result and I personally believe the tri-unity of God is an essential Christian doctrine that can be supported very well both from the scriptures, history, and coherent logical argumentation. Would you be willing to discuss this topic with me?

Absolutely. I’m preparing an article on oneness theology from my perspective, as a mormon-turned-agnostic-turned-pentecostal.

What are your thoughts on the trinity and the nature of the Godhead?

Then Jesus said to his disciples: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?

“Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you—you of little faith! And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them. But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.

“Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom. Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Calvary is the summit of our highest hopes and the depth of our deepest sorrow. Where God in bloody garments courted & won our love.
